How a Person Takes Shape
How do you tell the story of a person’s formation? Through encounters, memories and things that stay with us. An animated film about education as a lived experience, and the people who change us.
An invitation to come closer.
Casa Paleologu wanted to reach more people, including those who might admire it from a distance without quite imagining themselves walking through its door.
Its reputation for intellectual rigour could sometimes feel formal or exclusive. The film needed to reveal the warmth behind that impression: the people, relationships and shared curiosity at the heart of the school.
We wanted viewers to feel the warmth, humour and human connections behind Casa Paleologu’s intellectual life.
Returning to the house’s beginnings, we built a nostalgic visual world from paper textures, hand-painted watercolour and movement inspired by traditional animation. A familiar, intimate way into a story about the people who shape us.
A past you could almost touch.
The challenge was to bring hand-drawn animation and motion design together, while keeping the production achievable with the time and resources available.
Different crafts. One shared rhythm.
Working with a team of professional animators, we combined our skills and chose the approach each scene needed. Frame-by-frame animation gave gestures their character; motion design and compositing helped bring the illustrated world together.
The animatic let us test timing and transitions before taking each sequence further. These comparisons show how the early structure developed into the finished film.
A film made together.
This film carries the care, concentration and generosity of everyone who worked on it. The team brought their craft, patience and, on a few occasions, some very late nights to see it through.
